Role Summary/Purpose: In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing of the certification test program for the new Advanced Turboprop Engine program. You will maintain a master schedule to meet the engine program timeline. You will set priorities and establish team processes to ensure resources are available, instrumentation, facility, conformity and other prerequisites are in place, requirements coverage across the various tests, and facilitate on-time testing and reporting.
Essential Responsibilities: Position is open within the ATP Certification & Test team located at GE Aviation Czech in Prague, in close contact to the test facilities. You will work with global and on-site certification, design, assembly, instrumentation and test teams. In your role you will:
  • Execute GE Aviation’s new product introduction (NPI) processes relating to engine development and certification testing,
  • Integrate test requirements coverage, test approaches and cost/time estimates across the test team,
  • Prioritize test team needs in cases of limited resources, parts and instrumentation, facility availability, manpower support, etc.,
  • Develop an overall engine instrumentation layout and instrumentation plan,
  • Consolidate test owner inputs for cross-team planning and scheduling products,
  • Contribute to test design reviews,
  • Write plan templates and enforce standards for engineering and certification deliverables,
  • Supervise test vehicle configuration, conformity and overall test preparation,
  • Assist coordination between C&T test owners and assembly, instrumentation and hardware teams,
  • Track engine statuses during each phase (preparation, instrumentation, assembly, test, disassembly and teardown/layout) and advise engine owners on process, optimization and risk,
  • Facilitate test witnessing, perform general oversight of testing and ensure proper documentation,
  • Review and approve all certification test plans, reports and other deliverables prior to FAA and EASA submittal,
  • Coordinate with Flight Ops to support engineering flight tests within the master test schedule,
  • Analyze test team problems or difficulties and recommend action to be taken,
  • Create clear, concise and accurate engineering documentation using MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint,
  • Communicate statuses, risks, problems and solutions accurately and regularly to management,
  • Represent the test team in support of various project groups.
Qualifications/Requirements:
  • Bachelor/Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, etc.) from an accredited college or university with proven experience in a testing or engineering position,
  • Experience with leading engine/components tests of aerospace or industrial products,
  • Solid project leadership skills,
  • Strong problem solving skills,
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional matrix environment,
  • Strong leadership, communication and presentation skills,
  • Detailed knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint,
  • Fluent communication in English is a must,
  • Willingness and ability to travel 20% of the time, both locally and internationally.
